Jennifer Breuer Discusses Telehealth Reimbursement in FierceHealthcare

Chicago partner Jennifer Breuer was quoted in a FierceHealthcare article titled “CMS Physician Payment Proposal Nudges Open the Door for Telehealth.” The article analyzes new rules proposed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that would reimburse providers for virtual visits and review of pre-recorded videos and images. Jennifer explains that the proposed rule is a “game-changer” for the telehealth industry and would create “broad-based reimbursement for telehealth services not just in rural locations and not just in a healthcare facility, as is currently the case.”

The article also discusses how CMS was able to circumvent the current reimbursement restrictions in the Social Security Act and whether the rates are high enough to incentivize providers to adopt new telehealth services.
