Alimentation Couche-Tard's Acquisition of CST Brands Named ‘Cross Border Deal of the Year' by M&A Advisor

Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc.'s $4.4 billion acquisition of CST Brands, Inc. was named “Cross Border Deal of the Year over $500 Million” at this year’s M&A Advisor Awards. FaegreBD represented Couche-Tard and its U.S. subsidiary, Circle K Stores Inc. in the transaction. Winners were announced at an awards gala in New York City on November 13.

Jeff Brown, corporate partner in Indianapolis, led the team representing Couche-Tard. The deal was the largest in Couche-Tard's history and significantly enhanced Circle K's footprint in both the U.S. and Canada. As of October 15, 2017, Couche-Tard's network comprised 9,465 convenience stores throughout North America. It is the leader in the Canadian convenience store industry. In the United States, it is the largest independent convenience store operator in terms of number of company-operated stores.
