Susan Elgin Joins Faegre Baker Daniels Labor & Employment Litigation Team

Faegre Baker Daniels is pleased to announce that Susan P. Elgin, a former bureau attorney within the U.S. Treasury Department, has joined the firm as an associate in its Des Moines office. She will focus her practice on labor and employment litigation.

Before joining FaegreBD, Elgin worked in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), a bureau within the U.S. Treasury Department, in Washington, D.C. Her experience included advising national bank examiners on the supervision of problem institutions and closure of national banks. Elgin also advised the licensing department on corporate applications and branching issues, and she collaborated with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Federal Reserve, and U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) on a variety of enforcement and statutory interpretation matters.

After graduating with high distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2013, Elgin was a law clerk for the Hon. Michael J. Melloy in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. During law school, she completed a legal internship with the DOJ in Washington, D.C.; an externship with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa in Des Moines; and served as a summer law clerk at the Iowa Attorney General’s Office in Des Moines.

Elgin earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication with high distinction from the University of Iowa in 2008.
