Experienced Labor Law Lawyer Ryan Funk Joins Faegre Baker Daniels

Ryan Funk, former field attorney and field examiner with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), has joined Faegre Baker Daniels as an associate in the firm’s downtown Indianapolis office.

Funk will focus his practice in labor and employment law, representing and advising management in union and non-union settings. He brings extensive experience in traditional labor law matters, including union organizing campaigns, representation proceedings, collective bargaining, union jurisdictional disputes, picketing and strike activity, and Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) proceedings.

With the NLRB in Indianapolis for more than eight years, Funk investigated hundreds of charges against employers and unions across the entire spectrum of ULP allegations, including complex allegations of misconduct in organizing campaigns, employer domination of unions, refusal to bargain in good faith, illegal union practices and prohibited strikes and boycotts. Fluent in Spanish, he routinely drafted documents and took affidavits in Spanish and translated them to English.

Before graduating from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2013, Funk worked as a consultant to the International Labor Organization’s Washington, D.C. office. Funk was a Herman B Wells Scholar at Indiana University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2007. During his undergraduate studies Funk was an intern with the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations in New York City.
