Joe Price Named a Litigation Trailblazer by National Law Journal

Joe Price, partner in the product liability practice of Faegre Baker Daniels in Minneapolis, has been named a Litigation Trailblazer by the National Law Journal.

The National Law Journal recognizes 50 attorneys who have helped make a difference in the litigation profession. “While those recognized come at the litigation process from different angles, a common thread ties them together: each has shown a deep passion and perseverance in pursuit of their mission, having achieved remarkable successes along the way,” said Kenneth Gary, National Law Journal Vice President and Group Publisher.

Price, a 40-plus year veteran of mass torts litigation, started practicing law in 1972, when product liability litigation was a new area. His work early on in high-profile litigation surrounding the Dalkon Shield IUD comprised around 2,000 cases in Minnesota. The Dalkon Shield litigation was the first organized, mass tort, multi-district litigation for a medical device, and Price played a national role at a young age. Later, Price would take lead roles serving as national counsel for 3M in silicone breast implant litigation, and more recently, he has successfully defended Novartis Pharmaceuticals in its Zometa litigation and Zimmer, Inc.’s Durom Acetabular Cup hip replacement product. In the last year, he has been chief trial lawyer in two significant victories for the Durom Cup, both in St. Clair County, Ill., a difficult defense jurisdiction. Both cases resulted in unanimous favorable jury verdicts.

Price has served nearly 45 years with Faegre Baker Daniels, and has played a major role in developing the firm’s product liability mass tort defense practice into what it is today, a 2015 top-three “Powerhouse” firm in product liability litigation, according to BTI Consulting’s Litigation Outlook.
