MOM Brands Sale to Post Holdings Named Deal of the Year by M&A Advisor

This year’s sale of MOM Brands cereal company to Post Holdings was named Deal of the Year in the Consumer and Retail Products category for sales of over $500 million in this year’s M&A Advisor Awards. FaegreBD represented MOM Brands in the transaction. Winners were announced at an awards gala in New York City on Nov. 17.

Mike Stanchfield, corporate partner in Minneapolis, led the team representing MOM Brands in its $1.15 billion sale to Post Holdings in May 2015. The transaction allowed MOM Brands to maintain its identity and retain its position as a major southern Minnesota employer.

In addition to MOM Brands, FaegreBD client Alimentation Couche-Tard’s acquisition of The Pantry, Inc. was a finalist in the Energy Sector Deal of the Year category. Corporate partner Jeff Brown led the team representing Canada-based convenience store industry leader Couche-Tard in acquiring The Pantry for approximately $1.7 billion. The acquisition added 1,500 stores to Couche-Tard’s network in the Southeastern U.S., positioning the company as the leader in the region and reinforcing its place as one of the largest convenience store operators in North America.
