Drinker Biddle Announces its Newest Partners

Drinker Biddle & Reath is pleased to report that the Partnership has elected nine new Partners, effective February 1, 2015. They are: Daniel H. Aiken (PH – Labor & Employment), Andrea T. Best (London – Corporate & Securities), Carrie A. Beyer (CH – Intellectual Property), Summer Conley (LA – Employee Benefits), Matthew H. Meyers (PH – Corporate & Securities), Linda S. Moroney (MW – Health Care), Meredith C. Slawe (PH – Commercial Litigation), Matthew P. Smith (SF – Products Liability) and Fatema Zanzi (CH – Health Care).
Daniel Aiken is a member of the Labor & Employment Practice Group and resides in our Philadelphia office. Dan represents employers in a broad array of employment-related matters, with a primary focus on litigating claims brought by current employees and former employees alleging discrimination or unlawful pay practices. Dan also provides employers with preventative advice and counseling. Prior to joining the firm in 2003, Dan served as a law clerk to the Hon. Robert B. Kugler, United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey. Dan received his J.D., with high honors, from Rutgers University School of Law-Camden, where he was an articles editor on the Rutgers Law Journal. Read his full firm bio here.

Carrie A. Beyer is a partner in the firm's Intellectual Property Practice Group and resides in our Chicago office. She concentrates her practice on intellectual property litigation and counseling. Since 2010, Carrie has been selected each year by her peers as an Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Star in the areas of intellectual property or intellectual property litigation. Carrie earned her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and history from Iowa State University, where she was elected to numerous honor societies. She received her J.D., with honors, from the University of Illinois College of Law. Prior to practicing law, she gained broad product design experience as an engineer at Hamilton Sundstrand Aerospace, a United Technologies company now known as UTC Aerospace Systems. Summer Conley a partner in the firm's Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice Group and resides in our LA office. Her practice covers a variety of employee benefit areas, including qualified plan work, executive compensation, and health and welfare issues. Matthew H. Meyers is a partner in the firm's Corporate and Securities Practice Group and resides in our Philadelphia office. Matt represents both public and private companies in a variety of corporate and securities matters, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, corporate governance, capital-raising transactions in the public and private markets, public company reporting obligations, employment and compensation arrangements, and general corporate matters. Linda S. Moroney is a partner in the firm's Health Care Practice Group and resides in our Milwaukee office. She regularly provides tax and corporate advice to non-profit and health care institutions and other tax-exempt organizations. Linda's experience includes a broad range of transactions and she has also served as chief legal officer for a hospital system in Southeastern Wisconsin. Linda is a certified public accountant, has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America and was previously named to Nightingale's list of Outstanding Young Healthcare Lawyers. She has served for many years on the planning committee for the American Health Lawyers Association’s annual conference on Tax Issues for Healthcare Organizations, chairing the committee in 2013 and 2014. Meredith C. Slawe is a partner in the firm's Commercial Litigation Practice Group and resides in our Philadelphia office. She has a broad litigation practice with an emphasis on business disputes, class actions, government and internal investigations, intellectual property/trade secret litigation, and white collar criminal defense. Matthew P. Smith is a partner in the firm's Products Liability Practice Group and resides in our San Francisco office. He concentrates his practice on complex products liability cases, primarily involving pharmaceutical products and medical devices. Matt received his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 2003. He received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 2006. Fatema Zanzi is a partner in the firm's Health Care Practice Group and resides in our Chicago office. She represents health care providers and suppliers in all aspects of corporate transactional and regulatory matters, including counseling clients on compliance with federal and state fraud and abuse laws, Medicare and Medicaid provider enrollment and reimbursement laws, EMTALA, HIPAA and provider licensure and telemedicine laws. She provides business and legal advice to health care organizations undertaking strategic transactions, implementing health reform initiatives, and addressing Medical Staff quality and peer review matters. Her clients primarily include community hospitals, health systems, teaching hospitals and academic medical centers, physician group practices, and health industry supplier. Fatema’s prior experience includes the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Office for Civil Rights, and as a health care industry consultant with a national advisory firm. Fatema has been recognized by Illinois Super Lawyers as a 2015 Rising Star for Health Care Attorneys.
