Jesse Linebaugh Named to Forty Under 40 by Des Moines Business Record

Jesse Linebaugh of Faegre Baker Daniels has been named to the Des Moines Business Record's 2014 Forty Under 40 list.

Forty Under 40 honors young business leaders who have excelled in their careers and demonstrated civic leadership. Candidates are nominated by peers and colleagues and undergo an extensive review process by a number of past honorees.

Linebaugh, a partner and co-chair of FaegreBD's national securities and financial services litigation practice, coordinates a team of more than 35 attorneys in client development, client service and litigation. The team has obtained dismissal or summary judgment in nearly all of the securities class actions the firm has defended in the last decade.

Linebaugh defends insurance companies, banks and broker-dealers in litigation and regulatory inquiries throughout the United States. Through two cases he handled in district court and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, Linebaugh created case law and rulings helping to establish that banks do not owe a special duty as a matter of law.

The Business Record noted that Linebaugh has the characteristics of a natural litigator. "I like to argue," he said. "I like to be in action. I'm very competitive and I like to win."

In a profile of Linebaugh, the Business Record highlighted his leadership spearheading development of the Faegre Baker Daniels-Iowa Legal Aid Health and Law Project; volunteer work with Appleseed to assist Hurricane Katrina evacuees; and board service with Latino Resources Inc., Walnut Creek YMCA and Raccoon Valley Little League. He also serves on the Polk County Bar Association's board.

Linebaugh told the Business Record that, amidst a busy legal practice, he relaxes by taking his two sons swimming. "My kids are my life," he said. "If I'm not working, I like to spend time with my boys."
