David Gross and Debbie Ellingboe Named Attorneys of the Year

David J.F. Gross and Deborah A. Ellingboe of Faegre Baker Daniels have been named 2011 Attorneys of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer magazine.

The publication recognized 25 lawyers who distinguished themselves last year through their leadership in the profession, involvement in major cases or other newsworthy events, excellence in corporate or transactional services and public service.

Gross and Ellingboe were selected for the award for their role in winning a defense jury verdict in a claim that sought over $20 million in damages from Benchmark Electronics, and further obtaining a verdict that required the plaintiff to pay the defendant $720,000 in damages for Benchmark's counterclaims. The two-week jury trial involved a series of manufacturing agreements relating to patented technology for ultra-thin printable batteries. Throughout the trial, Gross and Ellingboe navigated issues such as international litigants, witnesses speaking English as a second language and differing cultural mores.

"We are honored to receive recognition for our trial victory," Ellingboe says.  "The jury verdict was the result of four years of extensive teamwork both within our law firm and with our client."
