Clay Pierce Joins As Partner, Boosts Commercial Litigation Practice in N.Y.

Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP welcomes Clay J. Pierce to its Commercial Litigation Practice Group in New York.  Pierce, who joins as a partner, enhances the firm’s practice in New York with his experience in complex commercial and financial disputes.

Pierce, previously a partner at Reed Smith in New York, has litigated a wide variety of business disputes, including fraudulent conveyance, insurance, structured finance, securities and business tort matters.  Pierce also has substantial experience representing law firms – in both attorney malpractice and law firm partnership disputes – and litigating false advertising claims.

“Clay’s ability to handle difficult matters for his clients is well known,” said Alfred W. Putnam, Jr., Drinker Biddle’s Chairman.  “His addition will help us provide our clients with even more value.  We are very happy to have him on board, especially in New York.”

Drinker Biddle’s Commercial Litigation practice, with more than 225 lawyers nationwide, is widely recognized for its ability to serve clients in a wide range of litigation.  Pierce’s addition will serve to enhance that reputation, said Wilson M. Brown III, chair of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group.

“We are constantly looking for ways to better ourselves, and Clay helps us do that,” Brown said. “His litigation skills are a true asset to our group.  We will benefit from them greatly as we continue to grow – both nationally and in New York.”

Pierce earned his law degree from Fordham University, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, and his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University.
