Faegre & Benson Serves as Counsel on Colorado Renewable Energy Deal

Faegre & Benson LLP recently represented client Xcel Energy in the acquisition of land in Alamosa, Colorado, which will be the site for one of the largest photovoltaic power plants in the United States.

In addition to Faegre & Benson’s representation in the land acquisition, the firm also served as counsel on the subsequent sale of the land to an independent power producer, and assisted with the permitting of the facility. The Alamosa project will help Xcel Energy to meet its obligations under Colorado’s Amendment 27, which requires large electric utilities to generate 10 percent of their power through renewable energy sources by 2015.

The Faegre & Benson team on this transaction was led by Diane Davies, a partner in the firm’s real estate practice.
