Matt Wahlquist

Managing Director, Strategic Pricing & Client Value


Matt Wahlquist leads Faegre Drinker’s pricing and legal project management functions and is a member of the firm’s innovation team. Matt works closely with attorneys and consulting professionals across the firm to design, present and implement innovative, client-centric pricing arrangements, leveraging Faegre Drinker’s extensive investment and capabilities in practice technologies, knowledge management and data science. He also helps bring cost predictability and transparency to matters through the firm’s legal project management program.

Matt brings a unique perspective to the firm through nearly a decade of experience in high-level legal operations roles for two large FinTech and financial services companies. Through his work managing outside counsel programs, Matt orchestrated client-law firm partnerships that delivered value to both sides. He has a deep understanding of business priorities of the client, the detailed innerworkings of managing legal budgets and how to excel at service delivery. At Faegre Drinker, Matt works directly with clients to understand their financial needs and business priorities, designing pricing and matter management solutions that are innovative and responsive to their needs.

Matt is a frequent speaker and is actively involved in numerous organizations to help shape and move forward best practices on all things related to firm-client relations, pricing and more. Prior to the in-house legal operations roles, Matt also was the Director of Practice Management at an AmLaw 200 firm, where he helped to build the firm’s pricing and legal project management function.
