Overview

Matthew Spegele is focused on protecting the intellectual property portfolios of clients, particularly through patent litigation. He represents clients in a variety of industries, including biotechnology and consumer products.

Patent Litigation

Matthew’s experience spans all stages of litigation, including pre-suit investigations, discovery, motion practice and trial. Matthew has represented clients in district courts in the Third and Ninth Circuits as well as in the International Trade Commission.

Prior Experience

Prior to joining Faegre Drinker, Matthew drafted provisional and nonprovisional patent applications in his role as an independent contractor with an Indiana law office and through his law school’s pro bono IP clinic. Adept at research, he has examined legal questions for a law professor and has drafted memoranda related to patent litigation and pro bono work. Matthew has been a registered patent agent since 2020, and as a summer associate and IP law clerk with Faegre Drinker, Matthew worked on patent litigation and prosecution cases that covered a variety of technologies from mechanical designs to complex chemistry.

Personal Interests

Matthew enjoys spending time outside running, hiking, playing basketball and pickleball.
