Rubeena Sehgal practices in the areas of tax and estate planning concentrating on estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax issues, and tax-exempt organizations.

Rubeena has experience drafting various estate planning instruments, including wills, various trusts, durable powers of attorney and advance directives for health care. Rubeena advises fiduciaries with respect to probate matters, trust accounting, and the administration of trusts and estates. 

With tax-exempt organizations, which include private foundations and public charities, Rubeena forms nonprofit corporations and prepares federal applications for recognition of tax-exempt status, including state charitable registration filings.

Representative Matters

  • Represented the Doris Wilderness Foundation, Inc. in obtaining a favorable determination letter from the Internal Revenue Service confirming that Doris Wilderness Foundation, Inc. has been classified as a private operating foundation
  • Represented NJ clients in obtaining a favorable private letter ruling from NY state regarding the clients’ ownership of a private residential club would not be considered a “permanent place of abode” for NY statutes resident purpose
