Academic Background
While earning her master’s degree, Emily studied in Belgium, Germany and Slovakia, and conducted a case study on water resource management in Jordan. With 30 classmates from 17 countries around the world, Emily enhanced her ability to keep an open mind and find common ground among cultures. Between her second and third semesters, she joined 11 classmates in Slovakia for a case study looking at the local implementation of the European Union's Common Agricultural Policy’s (CAP) rural development funds. Throughout her coursework and this case study, Emily learned not only about the technicalities of the CAP, but also the perceptions of the program held by different Europeans. In Jordan, Emily and her colleagues traveled to rural villages to conduct interviews for the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in their attempt to decrease the impact of water scarcity in the region.
