Overview
David McNeill provides strategic legal counsel to insurance companies on regulatory, transactional and corporate matters. David draws from nearly three decades of in-house experience at FBL Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE: FFG) (whose subsidiaries and managed affiliates include Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company, Farm Bureau Property & Casualty Insurance Company, FBL Marketing Services, LLC and FBL Investment Advisory Services, Inc.), including an eight-year tenure as general counsel, to help clients develop and execute strategies to advance their business objectives.
In-House Experience
In his tenure with FBL Financial Group, Inc., David led many projects and initiatives instrumental to the organization’s growth and operations. As general counsel from 2009-2018, he oversaw the day-to-day legal affairs of the company, including managing a legal department of ten attorneys. His other accomplishments include:
- Overseeing the insurance regulatory aspects and assisting with negotiations and other legal aspects of the 2011 sale of EquiTrust Life Insurance Company to an affiliate of Guggenheim Partners.
- Overseeing all legal aspects and regulatory approval of FBL Financial Group's 2000 purchase of Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company of Kansas.
- Assisting with legal and regulatory aspects of the conversion of Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company into a Mutual Holding Company.
- Overseeing the creation of a Colorado-domiciled subsidiary life insurance company.
- Participating in negotiations and overseeing legal and regulatory approvals of the merger of three unrelated Farm Bureau affiliated property/casualty insurance companies into a single company.
- Preparing the organization's first Corporate Government Annual Disclosure for filing with the Iowa Insurance Department.
