A degreed mechanical engineer and registered patent attorney, Dan has litigated patent cases involving a variety of technologies, including computer software, apps and hardware for mobile devices, electronic payments and funds transfers, digital encryption, antipiracy watermarking for motion picture film, medical devices, laser ablation, vehicular airbags, recreational vehicles, consumer electronics, maternity and children's products, trampolines, police hardware, and industrial blast freezers, among others.
In addition to patent cases, Dan has represented clients in trademark, unfair competition and copyright disputes, as well as matters involving contract and antitrust claims.
Before attending law school, Dan worked as an undergraduate co-op, and later a mechanical engineer, in the Environmental Products Group of YSI Inc., where he was named a co-inventor on U.S. Patent No. 6,779,383 , "Wiper and Brush Device for Cleaning Water Quality Sensors." Prior to that, Dan completed a summer engineering internship with the Gas Turbine Engine Division of Allison Engine Company, now Rolls-Royce Corp.
