Overview
Raphael Coburn defends employers in a wide range of federal and state court litigation, from responding to charges of discrimination and demand letters to navigating appeals after trial. Raphael also focuses on representing businesses in workplace safety matters before the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Raphael defends employers against:
- Discrimination claims under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and a variety of equivalent state statutes
- Retaliation and whistleblower claims
- Claims under the Surface Transportation Assistance Act (STAA)
- Citations and retaliation claims under the Occupational Safety and Health Act
- Claims involving trade secrets and restrictive covenants
Before joining the firm, Raphael was a law clerk for the Honorable Renee Worke of the Minnesota Court of Appeals, where he drafted bench memoranda and opinions on civil, criminal, and family law matters.
Pro Bono
Raphael works with Tubman to represent survivors of domestic violence in obtaining orders for protection. Raphael also works with the National Veterans Legal Services Program to assist veterans with disabilities.
Personal Interests
Raphael enjoys tennis, cycling and playing with his dog, Vinny.
