Overview

Jane Blaney counsels insurance clients on regulatory and transactional matters, offering concentrated knowledge in health insurance, data analytics and technology, privacy, and cyber security. She values practical, business-focused advice, and clients appreciate her willingness to approach complex scenarios and questions with curiosity and confidence.

Jane is on the editorial board of the firm’s Discerning Data blog, where she frequently contributes on topics including new legislation, privacy, data handling and cybersecurity frameworks. Jane has been asked to speak locally and nationally on these same topics. Jane serves as a board member and on the programming committee of the Minnesota State Bar Association Health Law Section. She is also an adjunct professor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law and guest lecturer on privacy and cybersecurity.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Jane worked clinically in health care for eight years, working in direct patient care and also advising businesses on proper regulatory adherence. She also worked advising patients on insurance matters, with a particular focus on government health care coordination with private insurance. Jane has advised health care and insurance businesses in a variety of settings.

Jane is currently pursuing her Master’s in Quantitative Management (Data Analytics) from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Her expanded knowledge of data management, technology and analytics allows her to advise clients in the increasingly digitalized world of insurance.

Community Service

Jane is an advocate of women’s rights and serves on the board of Global Rights for Women. She also volunteers extensively with this organization, contributing in ways such as drafting globally circulated reports and assisting with translation services.

Personal Interests

Jane grew up in Ottawa, Canada, and loves embracing her heritage. She enjoys pursuing fitness endeavors of all types, listening to podcasts and cooking new foods. She and her husband also love spoiling their French Bulldog, Duke.
