Matt litigates complex constitutional law matters in trial and appellate courts. He has handled appeals in numerous state and federal appellate courts, including the United States Supreme Court. See, e.g., Hamdi v. Rumsfeld, 542 U.S. 507 (2004) (habeas corpus petition brought on behalf of U.S. citizen being detained indefinitely as an "illegal enemy combatant”) (amicus).

Pro Bono

Matt has handled multiple appeals on behalf of the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence. See, e.g., Moore v. Moore, 904 N.E.2d 353 (Ind. Ct. App. 2009), involving a challenge to the issuance of "non-violent contact orders" on behalf of a battered spouse.

Working with the Indiana State Bar Association, Indiana Supreme Court and Indiana Court of Appeals, he helped implement the Indiana State Appellate Pro Bono Project.
