Diversifying Your Portfolio of Mentoring Relationships

Mentoring relationships can provide valuable guidance and support. Generational differences are intentionally embedded into such relationships, with both parties benefitting from different generational experiences and approaches. However, there are tremendous benefits from mentoring relationships between individuals who have differences beyond generation.

In Diversity & the Bar, Brita Horvath described the importance of diverse mentoring relationships and interviewed participants in the Indiana State Bar Association's Mentor Match program about their experiences with mentors or mentees who did not share obvious commonalities.
