Strong IP Practice, Firm Combination Attract Reckamp to Baker & Daniels

Intellectual property veteran Christopher Reckamp is excited to have joined the Chicago office of Baker & Daniels on the eve of its January 2012 merger with Faegre & Benson, according to Law360's article, "Baker & Daniels Snags IP Atty from Vedder Price."

"The combination of the firms makes it almost an 800-attorney firm, with additional international capabilities, as well as additional national capabilities," Reckamp told Law360. "So I think for my client base, it'll offer great opportunities, and it's an exciting place to be."

Reckamp cited the upcoming merger as a major factor in his decision to join Baker & Daniels from his previous firm, Vedder Price. He was also impressed by the makeup of Baker & Daniels' intellectual property practice.

"One of the reasons I was attracted by Baker & Daniels is the depth of the platform they have here in terms of the high-tech side of the business," Reckamp said. "They have a group of highly talented IP attorneys, both on the litigation side and on the transactional side, which allows for my clients to get a much better platform to work with."

Reckamp's move builds out an intellectual property practice at Baker & Daniels with more than 50 attorneys across seven offices, including Chicago, Washington and China, Law360 reported. He brings more than 20 years of experience to the firm, with a practice focused on domestic and international patent preparation and prosecution, as well as opinions and licensing.
