Counsel’s Role in Business Crises: Anticipate, Avoid and Learn From Catastrophes

On October 28, 2020, Faegre Drinker’s Michael C. Zogby joined a panel of in-house leaders for an International Association of Defense Counsel webinar entitled “Counsel’s Role in Business Crises: Anticipate, Avoid, and Learn from Catastrophes,” moderated by Faegre Drinker’s Kaitlyn E. Stone. The webinar focused on strategies for navigating business crises across the timeline of catastrophes, from anticipating crises to managing emergencies in real time, with a focus on in-house and external counsel’s roles in the process. The panelists discussed pragmatic strategies for businesses, including red teaming; assembling a crisis management team; and the impact of cross-border issues on these methods.

The panel also featured Sneha Desai, Deputy General Counsel, Litigation, for BASF Corporation; Ashley Garry, Senior Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Protara Therapeutics; and Joan Pinaire, Senior Vice President, Legal Department, for Realogy Holdings Corp.

This webinar expanded on crisis management tactics explored in a series of articles previously published by this group in Corporate Counsel.
