Overview

Washington, D.C. partner Bob Stoll, co-chair of the Intellectual Property Group, , participated in The Naples Roundtable’s Leahy Institute of Advanced Patent Studies, held in Naples, Florida, on February 17-19, 2019.  More than 100 patent practitioners participated in the invitation-only conference, including  Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT); Judges O’Malley and  Linn, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; Judge Gilstrap,  Eastern District of Texas; Andrei Iancu, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office; former Directors David Kappos and Todd Dickinson, along with many prosecution, litigation, and licensing experts.

On February 19, 2019, Bob moderated a lively panel of experts on the need to revise rules to bring the content of patent applications in line with modern precedent. The conversation centered on international harmonization efforts related to patent application examination.
