Diversifying Your Portfolio of Mentoring Relationships

Indianapolis, IN

Overview

Brita Horvath, diversity manager at Faegre Baker Daniels, will join the Diversity Roundtable of Central Indiana to present on "Diversifying Your Portfolio of Mentoring Relationships."

There is universal agreement that mentoring relationships are essential in terms of offering professional  guidance and support. The candid exchange of advice and insights between mentors and mentees is the basis of this support and guidance. While all mentoring relationships include diversity as it relates to experience levels and potentially generational differences, there are other differences that provide additional benefits to mentoring relationships. This session will provide a facilitated discussion with a mentor-mentee pairing to learn how they navigated differences and leveraged those difference to benefit the relationship. We will also explore the various roles that mentors (and beyond) play in our individual professional and career development, and, as diversity and inclusion professionals, how to ensure our portfolio of mentoring relationships is diversified.
