Faegre Drinker Adds Leading Restructuring and Insolvency Partner Susan Moore in London

Faegre Drinker announced today that Susan Moore has joined the firm as a partner in the finance and restructuring practice group in the London office. Moore comes to the firm from Stephenson Harwood, where she was head of the restructuring and insolvency practice. The firm also announced the addition of associate Bethan Griffith to the practice in London.

Moore leads on high-profile cross-border and domestic restructurings and corporate insolvencies. She devises, negotiates and implements restructuring solutions in a wide range of matters for clients across different jurisdictions and sectors, often involving large numbers of stakeholders. Moore also deals with significant domestic and cross border litigation in the U.K. and other jurisdictions arising in connection with restructurings and insolvencies.

Moore is the 12th partner to join Faegre Drinker in 2021 and the latest to join the firm’s growing London office, which has added 11 attorneys since January 2020.

Moore’s move to Faegre Drinker coincides with the recent expansion of its finance and restructuring practice, which has added 15 attorneys since June 2020. She joins other notable hires, including co-leaders of the firm’s transnational restructuring and insolvency practice James Conlan and Patrick Corr, Los Angeles partner Scott Gautier, London partners Wayne Beck and Buvini Kularatne, New York partner Richard Bernard and Wilmington partners Ian Bambrick and Brett Fallon.

Conlan and Corr, who worked with Moore for many years on very large company side restructuring cases including the precedent setting Federal-Mogul/T&N cross border cases, said, “Sue brings world-class experience in contentious and non-contentious complex cross-border and domestic matters. Her global practice and reputation further strengthen our rapidly growing cross border team and position us well for the largest global restructurings.”

Moore acts for debtors, insolvency office holders, boards of directors, banks, funds, financial advisers, corporate trustees and other stakeholders. She has dealt with notable restructurings and insolvencies in the automotive, financial services, energy, retail, manufacturing, shipping, rail and aviation industries, including the administration of Toys R Us; the litigation arising out of the BVI liquidation of former part-owner of the Aman Hotels group, Peak Hotels and Resorts Limited; the award-winning restructuring of PRC group Winsway Enterprises; and many others. Moore is recognized as a leading individual in the Legal 500 as well as a market leader in the restructuring and insolvency field in the International Who’s Who of Insolvency and Restructuring Lawyers, and is a former member of the Insolvency Rules Committee, a body that gives recommendations to the U.K. Lord Chancellor in connection with secondary insolvency legislation.

“Sue is a remarkable talent who has served clients in some of the world’s most high-stakes and precedent setting restructurings and insolvencies,” finance and restructuring practice group leader Mike Stewart said. “Her addition strengthens our practice’s international capabilities and our commitment to providing clients with the most sophisticated guidance in the market.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Sue to the team,” said co-leaders of the firm’s corporate restructuring practice, Michael Pompeo and James Millar. “Her work with prominent clients and involvement on significant restructurings and insolvencies adds to both our practice and several of our industry teams, including consumer products and retail, financial services, and environment and energy.”

Moore earned her Bachelor of Science, Joint Honors, from University of Nottingham, and completed her Law Society Finals at the College of Law of England and Wales.

Faegre Drinker’s finance and restructuring practice comprises more than 100 professionals and advises clients across diverse industries on matters from financial transactions, to corporate debt restructurings, to bankruptcy and litigation matters.
