Former Congressman Luke Messer Joins Faegre Baker Daniels Consulting in Washington, D.C.

Luke Messer, a former U.S. Congressman from Indiana’s Sixth District and previously the fifth highest ranking Republican member of the House, has joined Faegre Baker Daniels Consulting as a principal in Washington, D.C.

Messer will co-lead the firm’s bipartisan federal advocacy team with FaegreBD principal Ted Bristol, who served as legislative advisor to senior Democrats in the U.S. House and Senate.

“I am excited to join a major firm with a strong presence in Washington, D.C. and nationwide,” said Messer. “I look forward to working with my new colleagues to help clients navigate the complex maze of federal policy decisions in Washington.”

FaegreBD chair and managing partner Tom Froehle said, “We are pleased to have Luke join us. Our firm has always had an active practice working with federal, state and local government decision makers. Luke’s addition strengthens our expertise and ability to help clients achieve their [legal and] public policy objectives.”

As part of his role at the firm, Messer will advise businesses and others nationwide on federal regulatory and policy developments. Drawing from a three-term tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives, including four years as chairman of the Republican Policy Committee, Messer understands the competing demands that shape federal actions.

Prior to joining Faegre Baker Daniels Consulting, Messer served as the U.S. Congressman from Indiana’s Sixth Congressional District from 2013-19. During his tenure, he successfully authored legislation addressing banking, taxation, immigration, federal deregulation, foreign affairs and education issues. As chairman of the Republican Policy Committee, he led Committee hearings including Task Forces on: the Conservative Clean Energy Agenda, Women in the 21st Century Workforce, Law Enforcement, and the American Worker. Messer served on the House Committees on Financial Services; Education and the Workforce; Budget; and Foreign Affairs. He was also founder and co-chair of the Congressional School Choice Caucus.

Messer earned a law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School and a bachelor’s degree in speech from Wabash College where he graduated summa cum laude.
