Working Mother Honors Faegre Baker Daniels as one of the "Best Law Firms for Women"

Faegre Baker Daniels (August 1, 2018) — Working Mother has named Faegre Baker Daniels one of the 2018 Best Law Firms for Women – a list that recognizes 60 U.S. firms for using best practices in retaining women attorneys, advancing them into leadership roles and implementing work-life balance initiatives.

FaegreBD strives to promote gender equality within the firm through its processes, policies, practices and programming. The firm’s management board is 31 percent female, the executive committee is 25 percent female and the partnership is 28 percent female.

Working Mother highlighted the firm’s internal Women’s Forum for Achievement leadership succession plan for being open and transparent, noting that all lawyers receive details about opportunities and the nomination and selection processes.

In addition, FaegreBD was recognized for the firm’s 2017 implementation of unlimited personal discretionary time for staff attorneys, associates and counsel.

Meredith Bodgas, editor-in-chief of Working Mother, says, "The law firms that make Working Mother's list are remarkable for their long-term commitment to retaining and promoting women lawyers. One hundred percent of these firms provide flexible work arrangements and 57 percent of them offer sponsorship programs for high-potential women lawyers. That's resulted in a jump in the number of women equity partners to 21 percent.”

For the second year, Working Mother worked in collaboration with the ABA Journal as a knowledge partner.

In addition to the 2018 Working Mother recognition, FaegreBD was among 42 U.S. law firms to receive 2018 Gold Standard Certification by the Women in Law Empowerment Forum, and was named as the eighth best law firm from women in Law360’s 2018 “Glass Ceiling Report.

The firm has also adopted innovative programs dedicated to the retention and advancement of women and diverse professionals, including the Mansfield Rule, which ensures consideration pools for select leadership and governance roles are represented by women lawyers and lawyers of color; and “On Track for Partnership”— a team-driven and technology-supported sponsorship initiative designed to accelerate professional growth, promote career advancement, and unlock leadership opportunities for women lawyers and lawyers of color.
