Amie Peele Carter Recognized by Federal Court for Pro Bono Service

Amie Peele Carter of Faegre Baker Daniels LLP was honored by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana on February 13 for her pro bono service through the court's Mediation Assistance Program (MAP).

At an event hosted by the court, Peele Carter was recognized for taking the most MAP cases of any lawyer in 2013.

Chief Judge Richard Young noted that the MAP program has grown significantly since its founding in 2009. Faegre Baker Daniels attorneys began taking CTAP cases in 2012 and MAP cases in 2013 and have been important to the program's growth. In addition to Peele Carter, 12 other FaegreBD attorneys have volunteered with MAP and CTAP.

Peele Carter is a partner who practices intellectual property and sports law. She assists clients in protecting their brands, trademarks and other intellectual property; leveraging IP assets through licensing, sponsorships, promotions, social media and other marketing channels; monitoring the marketplace for potential IP infringement; and enforcing client's rights through pre-litigation dispute resolution, TTAB proceedings and litigation.

The Mediation Assistance Program in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana helps provide pro bono attorneys for pro se litigants at settlement conferences. Pro bono attorneys are appointed to provide free legal assistance regarding settlement, including attending and assisting parties in connection with settlement conferences conducted by judges. For the Civil Trial Assistance Panel, volunteer attorneys are appointed by the court to represent pro se litigants, at various stages of litigation, in civil and criminal cases pending in the Southern District of Indiana.
