Baker & Daniels' Amie Peele Carter to Chair National Trademark Committee

Amie Peele Carter of Baker & Daniels LLP has been appointed chair of the American Intellectual Property Law Association's trademark committee. Her one-year term will begin in October at the AIPLA's annual meeting in Washington, D.C.

As chair, Carter will lead the AIPLA committee responsible for monitoring the laws and treaties of the United States concerning trademarks, trade names and unfair competition. The committee also coordinates the efforts of the specialized AIPLA trademark committees and subcommittees, which focus on international aspects of trademark law, trademarks on the Internet, trademark litigation, trademark relations with the Patent & Trademark Office and intellectual property issues in sports and entertainment law.

Carter, a partner at Baker & Daniels, is a member of the firm's trademark, copyright and e-commerce group of the intellectual property practice. She represents clients ranging in size from individual entrepreneurs to international organizations. Carter devotes much of her IP practice to Baker & Daniels' sports and entertainment industry team where she represents clients in the sports, entertainment and fashion industries, including consultants, manufacturers, sports organizations, artists, authors, musicians and publishers. Carter also provides consulting services in branding and brand management through B&D Consulting, the consulting division of Baker & Daniels.

Carter is currently serving as chair of the AIPLA's sports and entertainment law subcommittee. She served as vice-chair of the AIPLA Trademark Committee from 2009-10 and has been a member of the IT task force since 2008. Carter also is a member of the International Trademark Association and the Sports Law Association.
