Faegre & Benson Honored by Colorado Hispanic Bar Association

Faegre & Benson LLP was recently awarded the Outstanding Corporate Commitment Award for 2006 by the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association (CHBA). This prestigious award recognizes companies that have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the Hispanic community and that promote diversity in corporate policies and activities.

The award will be presented at the CHBA's Annual Banquet to be held on January 20, 2007 at the Westin Tabor Center Hotel in Denver, Colorado. John Shively, a partner in the Denver office, will accept the award on behalf of Faegre & Benson.

Faegre & Benson was honored with this award, in part, for its establishment of a comprehensive scholarship and mentorship program aimed at encouraging and supporting diversity in the legal profession.

Faegre & Benson will award two $12,000 scholarships annually to help students pay for the final years of law school. The Diversity Scholarship Program also awards the opportunity to serve as a Summer Associate at one of the firm's four U.S. offices and matches the recipient with a Faegre & Benson mentor. A comprehensive scholarship program such as this demonstrates Faegre & Benson's commitment to the academic excellence of minority students and the community at large.

In addition, in September 2006, Faegre & Benson established the Joe Montano Scholarship at the Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver. The scholarship – which offers financial support to law students from underrepresented ethnic backgrounds – honors former Faegre & Benson partner Joe Montano, the first Hispanic partner of a large downtown Denver law firm.
