A global event management company is defending against a putative class action in the Northern District of California. The plaintiff alleges on behalf of all nonexempt employees of the company in California that the company unlawfully charged check cashing fees. In addition, the plaintiff has brought individual claims for violations of the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) and for constructive discharge. The company denies all allegations. The case is in the discovery stages, and the judge has ordered the parties to mediation by winter of 2020. Our firm is representing the event management company in the case.
