Mingli Wu



Mingli Wu represents financial institutions in issuances of debt securities. He focuses on registered and exempt offerings of structured products.

Prior to joining Faegre Drinker, Mingli was a capital markets attorney with a firm in New York, where he practiced primarily in the areas of debt securities issuances and asset-backed securities. He also clerked for Presiding Judge Scott Myren, Judge Jon Flemmer, Judge Tony Portra and Judge Richard Sommers in the Fifth Judicial Circuit of South Dakota and was an anti-money laundering compliance attorney for a global casino.

Mingli began his career in his homeland of China, where he assisted clients with foreign direct investment into China. He also worked as in-house counsel and corporate secretary for a state-owned enterprise, advising the company on corporate governance and management.

  • Represent issuers in public and private offerings of senior debt securities linked to the performance of indices, exchange-traded funds, stocks, currencies, and other underlying assets.
  • Represent financial institutions in preparing shelf registration statements.
  • Represent fintech company as sponsor, seller, administrator, and servicer in transactions of asset-backed securities backed by consumer loans.
  • Advise underwriters in issuances of senior debt securities issued by Canadian banks.
  • Counsel investment company in sales of unit investment trusts.
