Luke Westerman advises clients at all levels of the food and agribusiness industry on compliance with the latest legislative and regulatory developments. He also devises comprehensive litigation strategies to help food and agribusiness clients navigate a wide variety of complex litigation matters before state and federal courts.

Luke has represented agricultural retailers, distributors and manufacturers in a broad spectrum of legal challenges, including product liability, Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) compliance, and pesticide drift cases. His practical experience operating a family farm and his extensive education in agronomy give him a 360-degree perspective on the issues impacting food and agribusiness clients and inform his empathetic approach to client service.

Past Experience

Prior to joining Faegre Baker Daniels, Luke worked for another international law firm in Denver, handling agribusiness and commercial litigation matters. He also gained federal jury trial experience, second-chairing a pro bono civil rights case involving a prisoner.

Military Experience

Prior to attending law school, Luke held the rank of captain in the United States Air Force as a senior director on board the E-3 AWACS aircraft. He deployed multiple times during his active duty service, flying combat missions in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Odyssey Dawn/Unified Protector, as well as counter-narcoterrorism missions in South America. He was also stationed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for a year, flying with and training the Royal Saudi Air Force.
