Overview

Alec is a finance and restructuring attorney with experience in litigation and transactional matters.

Chapter 11 Practice

Alec has Chapter 11 experience across industries. He frequently assists debtors by drafting motions and proposed orders, and facilitating asset sales. This includes working collaboratively with clients and other outside professionals to move engagements forward.

Alec’s creditor-side practice focuses on obtaining recoveries for corporate creditors and defending such creditors in preference and fraudulent conveyance actions. He is particularly adept at analyzing preference actions and has successfully negotiated optimal outcomes for creditors facing substantial claims.

His comprehensive bankruptcy experience uniquely positions him to assist with state receivership proceedings.

Commercial Litigation Practice

Alec is also experienced in complex commercial disputes before the Delaware Court of Chancery and various U.S. district courts and state courts. His experience includes legal research, discovery, motion practice and drafting of other memoranda.

Pro Bono and Community Involvement

Alec maintains an active pro bono practice focused on protecting the constitutional rights of prisoners and formerly incarcerated individuals.

He also participates in Faegre Drinker’s e-Mentor program, which partners local high school students with professionals at the firm to discuss their unique challenges and identify career opportunities.

Alec is an active member of the American Bankruptcy Institute.

Prior Experience

Alec was a judicial clerk to the Hon. Jerrold N. Poslusny, Jr., of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey prior to joining the firm. During law school, Alec was an intern to Chief Judge Michael B. Kaplan of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey, as well as an intern to Justice Lee A. Solomon of the Supreme Court of New Jersey.

Personal Interests

Outside the office, Alec enjoys marathoning, hiking, water sports and ice hockey. He has been inducted into the Atlantic Coast Collegiate Hockey League Hall of Fame, and also has served as a youth hockey coach.
