Environmental Regulatory and Compliance
In private practice since 1986, Joe has experience in all aspects of New Jersey environmental regulatory, due diligence, site remediation and permitting issues. He advises New Jersey clients on brownfield redevelopment, underground storage tanks, water, solid and hazardous wastes, and other environmental programs. He also counsels on environmental land-use issues related to wetlands, stormwater management and related matters in New Jersey.
Environmental Remediation
Joe has extensive knowledge and experience with the Site Remediation Reform Act (SRRA) and Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA). As senior staff attorney with NJDEP, Joe worked on the initial implementation of the Environmental Cleanup Responsibility Act (the predecessor statute to ISRA) and other significant New Jersey environmental statutes. Joe is adept at working with NJDEP and other regulatory agencies to advance client issues and projects, and working with licensed site remediation professionals (LSRPs) to expedite cost-effective remediation of contaminated sites in New Jersey.
Environmental Transactions
Joe assists clients in understanding complex environmental issues during the due diligence phase of transactions. He drafts environmental provisions that protect the client from present and future environmental liability.
Joe was a partner at the firm from October 1992 through January 2020.
Personal Interests
Joe is an avid Phillies, Sixers and Eagles fan. He enjoys live jazz music, gardening and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
