Kenneth A. Murphy



Kenneth Murphy is an experienced trial lawyer distinguished for his skillful handling of complex civil litigation. With nearly 30 years of experience, Ken is known for his defense of pharmaceutical companies in product liability and tort claims, including unfair trade practice and off-label promotion claims. Ken is a fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers.

Civil Litigation

With a deep understanding of civil litigation, Ken defends his clients’ interests from deposition strategy to jury selection and trial theme development. He has litigated and tried to verdict cases involving claims of professional malpractice, breach of contract, defamation, wrongful termination, premises liability, sexual harassment and tortious interference with contract.

Products Liability and Mass Tort

Ken has particular experience defending complex pharmaceutical actions in state, federal and appellate courts. He defends clients in personal injury litigation related to prescription drugs and medical products and against allegations of fraud and off-label promotion of prescription antipsychotic medicines.

In 2016, Ken was awarded the J. Austin Norris Award by the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia for distinguished service to the legal profession and the community at large.

Representative Experience

  • Serves as Defense Liaison Counsel in personal injury litigation regarding prescription antipsychotic medicine, antipsychotic medicine, anticonvulsant medicine, and pelvic mesh products, all pending in the Philadelphia Common Pleas Mass Tort Program
  • First chaired the defense efforts of a client facing two Attorney General-initiated cases alleging fraud and off-label promotion of prescription antipsychotic medicines
