Mercedes K. Meyer, Ph.D.



Mercedes Meyer draws on her doctorate in virology and degree in chemistry to apply a deep understanding of complex biotechnology and scientific research in advising life science clients on commercializing and protecting product innovations as well as performing diligence for investing in new technologies. She oversees global patent portfolio development, patent portfolio due diligence and war games, strategy and management on behalf of clients and counsels on innovation monetization. Mercedes maintains an extensive biotechnology and pharmaceutical patent management and prosecution practice, particularly in corporate joint development projects. Mercedes also advises and speaks frequently on patent ethics.

Start-ups and Fortune 500 companies alike turn to Mercedes to manage their patents and patent portfolios. She advises on developing patent strategies, managing the intellectual property rights, and making associated investments and acquisitions. She provides clients with strategies for global filings. Mercedes also conducts due diligence and handles patent interferences, reexaminations and inter partes matters.

Mercedes often is consulted on drug pricing and Bayh-Dole march-in issues, and she is an authority on patent prosecution ethics and bioethics issues.

In addition to showing dogs, Mercedes enjoys fly fishing, skeet shooting, quilting, skiing, hiking, writing, painting, Southwestern Indian pottery and blogging on women in law.
