Overview

Michael Jaeger represents clients in class actions and complex litigation in state and federal courts across the country with a particular focus on privacy, cybersecurity and consumer protection defense.

Michael’s experience includes claims brought under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA), Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), Florida’s Security of Communications Act (FSCA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), California’s Unfair Competition Law (UCL), the Consumers Legal Remedies Act (CLRA), and other privacy-based litigation statutes.

As privacy regulations continue to evolve, Michael counsels clients on data protection compliance and litigation avoidance by offering a strategic approach to meet his clients’ business goals. He also has extensive experience with online terms and conditions compliance issues and litigation, specifically regarding arbitration provisions, class action waivers, and automatic renewal programs, and is the author of Practical Law’s guidance on state automatic renewal laws. He has also written and presented on risk management and liability issues related to autonomous vehicles.

Michael also has significant experience in a broad range of business disputes and breach of contract litigation matters, including in the areas of COVID-19 liability, sports and entertainment, false advertising, product liability, labor and employment, RICO, construction defect, ERISA and franchising.

Past Experience

Before joining the firm, Michael was an associate with Latham & Watkins LLP in their complex commercial litigation group.

Prior to practicing law, Michael was a director, working in various capacities on and off Broadway, on national tours and in Los Angeles. He also co-wrote the feature film The Best and the Brightest (starring Neil Patrick Harris), directed the two-season, 24-episode web series Stuck, and directed and produced live corporate events. Michael is an avid hiker and has logged many miles in the San Gabriel Mountains.
