B. Shane Barnes

Counsel

Overview

Shane Barnes understands business needs and offers advice driven by years of in-house experience to find practical solutions to real estate matters. Shane provides guidance for clients engaged in the sale and purchase of commercial real estate, leasing for retail, industrial and office spaces, and real estate financing. He works with clients to perform real estate due diligence and drafts and negotiates loan purchase agreements.

Prior Experience

Before joining Faegre Drinker, Shane served as assistant general counsel and vice president at a national bank in Minneapolis where he focused on distressed commercial real estate loans. At the bank, Shane supported loan sales and drafted and negotiated purchase agreements for the bank’s sale of over $400 million of real estate backed hospitality loans.

He also served as senior attorney in-house at a national grocery distribution company in the real estate and wholesale business group. That work included supporting the company’s logistics business.  Shane was the lead in-house lawyer on a $505 million sale-leaseback transaction for nine distribution centers, which Faegre Drinker led as outside counsel. He also completed leasing transactions for new retail stores and industrial locations across the country.

Shane has also served as a senior associate at a Minneapolis-based law firm in the business services group working on matters ranging from asset purchase agreements and real estate purchase agreements, to civil litigation involving business and real estate disputes.  Shane litigated mechanic’s lien disputes and presented to local contractors and subcontractors on mechanic’s lien rights and enforcement.
