Greg Abrams Discusses Ruling Regarding Employment-Related Biometric Information Privacy Act Claim

In the article, Abrams highlights that for the last several years, the plaintiff’s bar has been bombarding companies doing business in Illinois with class action claims under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), 740 ILCS 14/1 et seq., and how this spate of BIPA class action lawsuits has spawned derivative disputes over the scope of insurance coverage for such claims.

Abrams outlines a recent case where an Illinois federal court concluded that an insurer has a duty to defend such claims under its employment practices liability (EPL) policy.
