An Illinois federal district court recently ruled on whether employment practices liability insurance (EPLI) policies are applicable in cases involving the state’s landmark biometrics law. In “Court decisions lay out path to biometric coverage,” labor and employment partner Greg Abrams spoke to Business Insurance about the impact of the decision.
According to the publication, the ruling held that a policyholder is owed coverage under an employment practices liability policy for litigation filed under Illinois’ biometrics law. The case is one of several that are either decided or pending and that are shaping the law’s parameters.
“As litigation continues, we’re going to see more and more derivative litigation in such insurance disputes like this one,” said Abrams.
