Greg Abrams Discusses ADA Enforcement During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Business Insurance spoke with a panel of industry insiders regarding how risk managers must act when it comes to dealing with coronavirus-related issues that correspond to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

In the article, “ADA, Coronavirus a Balancing Act: Experts,” the industry publication turned to Labor & Employment partner Greg Abrams for insight into how employers should navigate the situation.

According to the publication, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has issued extensive guidance on the issue, which is based on the guidance it issued in 2009 in response to the H1N1(“swine flu”) outbreak.

Abrams told Business Insurance, “I think employers should recognize that this is really an unprecedented situation, so although the ADA should always be top of mind, employers should consider that the EEOC…is allowing employers to get out in front of this in a way employers may not have been able to before this became a pandemic.”
