Philadelphia associate John Yi and Maria Lewis, Philadelphia counsel and chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, authored “A Simple but Important Role in Diversity for Big Law” for The Legal Intelligencer.

In the article, John and Maria consider how big law firms can improve their efforts in hiring and retaining diverse attorneys. John recounts his experience with the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania (APABA-PA), and how the firm’s approach to a sponsorship of an APABA-PA event showcased a real commitment to diverse attorneys. Though a seemingly small gesture, the intent behind the sponsorship can make a notable impact on a firm’s attorneys.
