Culture, Cuisine and Chicago Transit Key to Gary Revitalization, Bo Kemp Tells Chicago Tribune

Bo Kemp, senior director for FaegreBD Consulting, has a vision for the revitalization of Gary, Indiana’s downtown business district. “We need to develop a food corridor,” Kemp said, adding that city officials have had discussions with Majestic Star casinos about developing a downtown restaurant that would be affiliated with casino restaurants.

Kemp also sees cultural attractions as a means of driving tourism to Gary, pointing to the city’s talks with the Confucius Center—a non-profit Chinese cultural organization—about bringing a dance troupe to Gary this year as a step in the right direction.

In addition, Kemp touted the need for the continued development of downtown office space and streamlining the commute from Gary to Chicago as top priorities.
