As the third open-enrollment period nears, health insurance brokers selling health insurance exchange health plans are still wishing there would be more resources available to them. As explained in Inside Health Insurance Exchanges, while applicants can find plans available to them on the HealthCare.gov Web portal or by calling a certified health exchange navigator, there is no phone or Web service dedicated to health insurance brokers. Despite rumors that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) would have a call center that can provide immediate assistance or Web portal available for brokers, it remains unclear if those resources will be available in the near future.
"Agents and brokers have long wanted a dedicated phone line and a portal to support their enrollments," Mike Adelberg, senior director for FaegreBD Consulting, said. "It may take a while for CMS to fully satisfy those requests."
