DOE Tribal Energy Program Review

Legislative Update

Overview

Washington, D.C., partner Paul Moorehead will present at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Tribal Energy Program Review on Monday, Nov. 14, in Denver, Colo.

Among other items, Paul will discuss the "Indian Tribal Energy Development and Self Determination Act Amendments of 2011" (S.1684) — recently-introduced legislation designed to remove structural and regulatory barriers to greater renewable and conventional energy development on Indian tribal lands.

The annual program review is intended as a forum for Indian tribes, private sector energy companies, and congressional representatives and Federal agency officials to meet and learn from other tribes pursuing energy resource development, energy efficiency and energy conservation. It is a unique forum that provides a discussion of the legal and policy inhibitors to these objectives, as well as an overview of the wide range of energy and energy efficiency projects under way in Indian Country.
