Cloud Computing 101: Legal Challenges and How to Address Them


Washington, D.C. partner Bennett Borden moderated a webinar titled, "101 Cloud Computing: Legal Challenges and How to Address Them," at The American Bar Association, Section of Science & Technology Law on Tuesday, March 4.

Both the private and public sectors are racing to move data to the cloud in order to take advantage of many of the opportunities it affords.  But this transformation to cloud computing poses many significant legal and practical challenges, including information governance controls, cybersecurity, and e-discovery obligations.  In this session, the speakers discussed a basic understanding of the various cloud computing service and deployment models and their differences.  As well as the legal implications of moving data to the cloud and how to analyze them and mitigate risk.  Additionally, they discussed security issues and how they can be addressed.
