2011 FEA Annual Conference

Utilizing Series LLCs for Reverse Exchanges and The Future of Section 1031

Overview

Philadelphia partner David Shechtman will present at the Federation of Exchange Accommodators’ (FEA) Annual Conference on Saturday, Sept. 24 in Las Vegas.

The FEA is a trade organization representing banks and other businesses that facilitate tax deferred like-kind exchanges.

David, chair of the Business Tax Team in the Corporate & Securities Practice Group, will speak on two panels: "Utilizing Series LLCs for Reverse Exchanges" and "The Future of Section 1031.”

As his first presentation, David will discuss the New Series LLC regulations and whether their protections are sufficient to isolate liability to the individual series.

David will then join leading industry experts for a discussion of “The Future of Section 1031,” a section of the Internal Revenue Code that allows investors to defer the tax on capital gains until some point in the future.
