Session One (Friday, February 19, 2021) – The Role of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)

The availability and deployment of digital health, telemedicine and telehealth often are influenced directly and indirectly by federal rules, regulations and funding from the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In recent years, however, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has exhibited a growing interest and role in telehealth and virtual care. In this first session, Dr. David Houghton of Ochsner Health, Ilisa Halpern Paul, Jodie Curtis and Laura Phillips will discuss the role of the FCC in supporting telehealth and digital medicine and the trends in FCC policy and funding.

Continuing Education Credit

This program has been approved only for the following continuing legal education credits:

  • California – 1 participatory hour of general credit,
  • Colorado – 1 live hour of general credit;
  • Illinois – 1 hour of general credit;
  • Indiana – 1 distance hour of substantive general credit;
  • New Jersey – 1.2 distance hours of CLE Credit;
  • New York – 1 non-traditional hour of professional practice credit for both newly admitted and experienced attorneys;
  • Pennsylvania – 1 live hour of substantive law, practice, and procedure CLE credit; and
  • Texas – 1 hour of general credit.

There are no mandatory continuing legal education (MCLE) requirements in Michigan, Maryland, Massachusetts or the District of Columbia and they do not approve programs for CLE credit nor are attendees required to attend programs for CLE credit. We will; however, provide attendees from these jurisdictions with a certificate of attendance confirming their attendance and the credits approved in the above MCLE jurisdictions. Both Florida and Hawaii allow attendees to self-request reciprocal credit for attendance at a program approved in another MCLE jurisdiction, we will provide attendees from these states with a multi-state certificate of attendance for them to do so.
